Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player or planeswalker, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)
Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Grateful Apparition is a deceptively small Spirit that rewards any deck built to make counters snowball, especially in Commander where proliferate can quietly take over a table. At just two mana, a 1/1 flyer is respectable for tempo and evasive chip damage, and the real payoff comes when that single combat hit adds another counter to everything relevant: loyalty on planeswalkers, +1/+1 counters on creatures, poison counters on opponents, or even charge and role counters in the right shell. It fits best in value-oriented white decks, but it also plays well in aggro lists that want their combat damage to scale beyond raw stats. Pair it with +1/+1 counter payoffs like Cathars’ Crusade or Hardened Scales effects, or use it in a superfriends deck to accelerate planeswalkers without committing extra cards. Because it only needs to connect once, evasion and protection are key, making equipment or combat tricks excellent support.
