Sparkshaper Visionary
Oracle Text
At the beginning of combat on your turn, choose any number of target planeswalkers you control. Until end of turn, they become 3/3 blue Bird creatures with flying, hexproof, and "Whenever this creature deals combat damage to a player, scry 1." (They're no longer planeswalkers. Loyalty abilities can still be activated.)
Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Sparkshaper Visionary is a clever support piece for a planeswalker-heavy control or value shell, turning your dormant loyalty engines into evasive threats without fully abandoning their utility. In play, the best line is often to stabilize with walkers, then animate them at combat to pressure life totals while preserving hexproof and keeping loyalty abilities online for a brutal tempo swing. Because the Birds become 3/3 flyers with combat-damage scry, they can both chip in and smooth draws, making this excellent in decks that want to protect a small number of key walkers rather than flood the board. It pairs especially well with planeswalkers that generate incremental advantage or can immediately tick up after attacking, and with cards that reward flying attackers or combat damage triggers. Deckbuilding tip: lean into cheap interaction and defensive creatures so Sparkshaper Visionary has time to turn your late-game walkers into hard-to-answer aerial finishers.
