Character Background
Waxen Shapethief is a sly, flexible tool for blue decks that want to keep mana open and punish opponents at instant speed, making it especially strong in tempo and value shells. Flash lets it wait in hand like a trick, then appear when the board state is most favorable, and its copy ability turns it from a fragile 0/0 into whatever artifact or creature on your side best advances the moment—whether that is an evasive attacker, a utility creature, or a disruptive engine piece. In gameplay terms, it is excellent at rebuying board presence after removal or copying a legendary artifact creature that you already deployed. Because it also has cycling, it avoids clogging your hand in matchups where the copy mode is poor, which makes it very deck-friendly. Build around cheap, high-impact permanents and include a few enter-the-battlefield creatures or resilient artifacts so Waxen Shapethief consistently becomes card advantage rather than just a body.
