Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Jugan, the Rising Star is a classic green value threat that fits best in midrange and ramp decks, where its five-mana 5/5 flying body can stabilize the board while threatening a meaningful postmortem swing. As a Dragon Spirit, it feels like a lingering guardian whose power does not end with its death; when it falls, the five +1/+1 counters can be spread to rebuild a board, supercharge a single finisher, or quietly widen pressure across multiple attackers. In practice, Jugan shines alongside sacrifice outlets or combat tricks that let you control when the counters happen, and it pairs especially well with token makers, proliferate support, and creatures with evasion so the counters translate into immediate damage. Because the counters can target any number of creatures, it also rewards careful sequencing: sometimes the best line is to split them for resilience, other times to stack them onto one unblocked threat and force the opponent into an awkward removal exchange.
