Card Details
Mana CostCharacter Background
Umbris, Fear Manifest is a terrifying value-control engine that rewards you for turning the exile zone into a private graveyard of dread. As a 1/1 for five mana, it looks fragile, but in the right shell it quickly becomes a huge threat because it scales with every card your opponents own in exile. The best game plan here is midrange-control or tempo, using cheap Nightmares and Horrors to trigger the mill-exile effect repeatedly while you hold up interaction. Cards that create multiple bodies, blink your own creatures, or recur Horror threats are especially strong, since each entrance forces an opponent to exile from the top until a land appears, feeding Umbris’s size at the same time. Pair it with cards that exile opposing graveyards or permanent cards to accelerate the power boost. Lore-wise, Umbris feels like a living shadow of forgotten things, and on the battlefield it wins by turning fear into pressure and inevitability.
