Card Details
Character Background
Delphox EX in XY Black Star Promos reads like a mage built for control and punishing hand-management, with a distinctly Fire-type shell hiding a very disruptive game plan. Psybeam is modest at 20 damage, but the coin-flip Confusion can buy crucial tempo by forcing awkward retreats, failed attacks, or costly Switch effects. Wonder Flare is the real threat: 80 damage for three Energy is already solid, and against decks that stockpile Energy in hand it can spike into game-ending numbers while also exposing the opponent’s resources. That makes Delphox EX best in a tempo-control or midrange strategy that pressures while tracking hand size. Pair it with deck-thinning, forced draw, or discard effects to keep the opponent’s hand awkwardly large and Energy-laden, and consider support that accelerates Fire Energy so you can attack consistently. It rewards careful sequencing and punishes careless setup.
