Character Background

Shredder, Shadow Master is a brutal finisher for black-based aggro or midrange decks that want to turn a single attack step into a table-wide crisis. A 5/5 for five already demands an answer, but the real danger is the attack trigger: in multiplayer, he fans out into temporary copies that pressure every other opponent at once, making him excellent in Commander as a political and tempo weapon. Because the tokens are tapped and attacking, combat tricks, equipment, and anthem effects can multiply the damage immediately, and any source of evasion or menace helps ensure the half-life trigger lands. He pairs especially well with cards that grant extra combat steps or double strike, since each successful hit can cut a player’s life total in half and then force them to face the same threat again. Even without the lore spelled out, the design reads like a ruthless master of coordinated strikes, perfect for decks that want to close games fast.
